ABOUT US

We chose our name, We the People Community Acupuncture, because we realized immediately that this wasn’t going to be about us, that it was going to be about US, all of us. We want acupuncture to help lead you back to your strengths, your vitality, to the things you need and love to do, so that you can live your life to its greatest potential—because there’s nothing better than that! AND because we’re selfish: that’s the kind of world we want to be living in, with you.

Melissa Tiernan
Melissa is a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine and is a NCCAOM diplomate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She specializes in the use of efficient, individually targeted treatments based on Five Element diagnosis as well as the methods of Dr. Richard Tan. Melissa was born and raised in Rhode Island and is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, with a B.A. in English literature and psychology. She has lived in New Mexico for 19 years.

Her interest in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine began in 1997 with an immersion into the study of Qigong and Tai Chi. This powerful experience of group energy led to excitement about the amazing healing capacity of the human body and spirit, awakened a deep desire to be of service, and planted the seeds for her lifelong study and dedication to creating healthy community. She believes that community acupuncture offers one of the best, most comprehensive systems for the treatment and prevention of disease.

Kelly Allen
Kelly is a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe and is a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in New Mexico, specializing in a gentle style of Japanese acupuncture. Prior to her training in Oriental Medicine, she most often experienced group qi as a jazz singer (ah, another life). Upon discovering community acupuncture, she immediately knew she would never practice any other way. Now she is constantly inspired by the beauty and strength of her patients and community, and by the powerful transformative journey that is acupuncture. She can’t wait to meet you.
