ABOUT US

We chose our name, We the People Community Acupuncture, because we realized immediately that this wasn’t going to be about us, that it was going to be about US, all of us. We want acupuncture to help lead you back to your strengths, your vitality, to the things you need and love to do, so that you can live your life to its greatest potential—because there’s nothing better than that! AND because we’re selfish: that’s the kind of world we want to be living in, with you.

Melissa Tiernan Melissa Tiernan
Melissa is a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine. Originally from Rhode Island, she has a B.A. in English literature and psychology from Middlebury College. She has lived in New Mexico for 21 years. Her interest in acupuncture began in 1997 with the study of Qigong/Tai Chi, inspired by the amazing healing capacity of the human body and spirit. Ten years later, envisioning a future practice that could create access for as many people as possible, she typed the words “acupuncture community” into the computer and found the path to her life as a community acupuncturist. She believes that the model of community acupuncture offers one of the best, most comprehensive systems for the treatment and prevention of disease and is one of the most fun ways to be of service to her community.
Kelly Allen Kelly Allen
Kelly is a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe and is a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in New Mexico. Prior to her training in Oriental Medicine, she most often experienced group qi as a jazz singer (ah, another life). Upon discovering community acupuncture, she immediately knew she would never practice any other way. Now she is constantly inspired by the beauty and strength of her patients and community, and by the powerful transformative journey that is acupuncture. She can’t wait to meet you.
